The Mazda KL-ZE 2.5-Liter V6 Engine is renowned for its reliability and performance, having been fitted to popular models such as the Efini, Eunos, or MX-6 from 1992 to 2002. It distinguished itself from other engine variants in the series, such as the KL-DE and KF-ZE, with a higher compression ratio and different intake manifold. This combination gave it more torque for takeoffs with less vibration at cruising speeds compared to other engines in this series. As such, this highly sought after classic engine can still provide an efficient ride today.

Problems & disadvantages of the KL-ZE

  1. Engines of this series are considered quite reliable, but spare parts are expensive
  2. Watch the cooling system, the aluminum block is very afraid of overheating
  3. At mileages over 100 000 km oil often oozes from under the valve covers
  4. The timing belt resources are about 80 km, but valves usually do not rot at timing belt rupture
  5. Hydraulic expansion joints do not tolerate cheap lubrication and may rattle for up to 50,000 km
