Problems & disadvantages of the Х14ХЕ engine
The oil caps on the valve guides can cause a burning of oil, resulting in owners needing to put undercoating – which only provides temporary relief. The alarming aspect is that timing belts tend to fail after 60 000 km runs and when they do rupture valves often get dented. Clogged EGR valves impede performance with sluggish traction and erratic engine rpm fluctuations whilst ignition system failures &oil leaks emerge as further sources for concern across this model range.
