MTM Audi TT Bimoto
Today, tuning house MTM is mostly known for ECU remaps and tasteful visual upgrades for Audi vehicles. But in the early 2000s, they dared to dream bigger. Their boldest project was the twin-engine version of the Audi TT, dubbed the MTM Bimoto.
Originally conceived as a fun experiment, the Bimoto was built with two highly tuned 1.8-liter turbocharged engines producing a combined 740 horsepower. Despite the TT’s challenging aerodynamics, the car could easily exceed 300 km/h. That led MTM to ask a daring question: could they create the fastest road-legal Audi ever?
In 2007, at the Nardò test track, driver Florian Gruber took a modified Bimoto with 860 horsepower out for a record run. The aerodynamics had been fine-tuned to prevent the TT from taking off at high speeds. The result was beyond all expectations — 393 km/h. The record was officially certified.
Sadly, MTM hasn’t built any twin-engine monsters since — but this one proved they were more than capable.
