Mosler TwinStar
After the eccentric Consulier GTP supercar failed to gain commercial traction, Warren Mosler’s company needed a new strategy — and more importantly, money. His engineers and PR team figured it was time to lean hard into American patriotism and create the most “American” supercar imaginable.
Enter the Mosler TwinStar, launched in 2000 — a bizarre and extravagant machine that was far quicker than its looks might suggest. Under the elongated Cadillac Eldorado body were not one, but two V8 NorthStar engines. Together, they provided 9.1 liters of displacement and 575 horsepower. With that setup, the TwinStar could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h.
In the early 2000s, Mosler built eight coupes. Distinguishing features included a rear cargo area with air vents and a second engine gauge cluster mounted on the passenger-side dashboard. The TwinStar had a base price of $70,000 — not including the donor Cadillac.
