Problems of the AXE
Although it has been a reliable option for many, the popular AXE series diesel engine is not without its challenges. Leaks from nozzle seals and tandem pumps can occur frequently with age; aluminum block models are vulnerable to bad fuel damage as well as heat exchanger leaks that might lead to antifreeze contamination. After 200,000 km of operation, rockers or camshaft cams may start wearing – common shortcomings typical in today’s diesels.
